Biography

Glenn Wesley Thompson and his wife, Naomi, moved to an area three miles northwest of Maple in January 1936. During the move, Thompson drove a tractor for several days while pulling two trailers filled with the family's household belongings.

Three years later, Thompson purchased land approximately nine miles northwest of Morton. The family moved to Cochran County, where he farmed.

In 1940, Thompson was elected Cochran County commissioner for Precinct 4.

Thompson was elected Cochran County judge in 1946, and the family moved to Morton in 1947. His first term began on January 1, 1947, and ended on December 31, 1950.

He was elected county judge for a second time in 1958 and returned to office on January 1, 1959. That period of service ended on December 31, 1963.

Thompson was elected again in 1966 and began his third period of service on January 1, 1967. He remained in office until December 31, 1982.

On May 20, 1977, Thompson's wife, Naomi, died at the age of 68. Following her death, he married Mrs. Wanda Legan.

Glenn Wesley Thompson died on October 25, 1985, in Morton, Texas, at the age of 74. He was buried at Morton Memorial Cemetery.
